SATC2: Girls Night Out For a Purpose, and a killer fashion-raffle

I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to Sex and the City. For better or worse, I have enough years invested in the TV show that when the movies come out I'm not only first in line at the movie theater (a place I normally avoid) but dressed to the nines on opening night. So I'm really looking forward to seeing the sequel (again, for better or worse) this Thursday night. I even, natch, picked up (another) new dress from Gary Graham for the event. What can I say? In certain areas I'm impossibly predictable.

But this year I'm especially excited because Thursday's local premiere coincides with a terrific event: SATC2: Girls Night Out for a Purpose, a private movie screening and fund-raiser in which 100 percent of the proceeds go to aid the fight against human trafficking. This is a cause I believe cannot get enough attention: More people—primarily women and children—are living in slavery than ever before and the numbers soar every day. I'm so impressed that Erin Lindeman of Lindeman Wedding & Events—who also happens to be my wedding planner—has found a way for SATC fans to put their money toward such an important cause. (Read more about it on Facebook.)

I'm doubly excited because Girls Night Out For a Purpose is also the occasion where I'm debuting the news of the launch of my new online publication, On This Day In Fashion. For the past six months I've been working hard to publish my own daily fashion 'zine and its launch is just around the corner (more news on the launch date to come). I'm very excited to share all the details of the work we've been doing. We hope to go live in the first days of June—so stay tuned!

In the meantime, On This Day is serving as one of the sponsors to Thursday's event, donating two neat prizes to the increasingly incredible raffle Erin created for the event: First up is a Newlywed Kitchen gift basket which is literally overflowing with cookbooks, flavored salts, Chef'n cooking tools and more. The second item is my favorite: A brand new—and impossible to find—Gary Graham hand-dyed chiffon blouse from the Spring/Summer 2010 collection! I was Gary's boutique in New York earlier this week and they generously agreed to contribute this blouse—which is only available in the Tribeca boutique—to the event.

Here's a close-up of the hand-created print:
Trust me: The chance of winning a raffle item is reason alone to attend! Choice items include:

• a pair of Manolo Blahniks
• three-month membership to David Barton Gym
• year-long membership to Julep Nail Parlor
• O Wines Wine Basket
• overnight weekend stay at Bellevue Westin
• a portrait session with Kristen Honeycutt Photographer
and more!

Each guest receives a swag bag brimming with goodies, such as giveaways from Nordstrom (custom fragrance!), Pearl Bar & Dining, Sugar Rush Bakery, My Flawless Tan and more, as well as a drink ticket and nibbles at Pearl before the show. The $55 ticket is, ultimately, a bargain, and as mentioned before, all proceeds (including raffle tickets) go to charity.

There's a lot of great events happening that night, but I hope to see you in Bellevue this Thursday!
